Because I’ve been really sick the past few days I really wanted some soup and Black Bean Soup was on the menu. It looked pretty good and I was looking forward to the pretzel and mandarin pudding. I put the soup in a bowl (the clear containers aren’t microwavable) and microwaved for 3 minutes as it was still partially frozen. I microwaved the pretzel for 15 seconds.
As you can see on my plate I had more than just the meal that was on the menu, I also added the little piece of angel food cake from a previous meal and a whole grain bun with some Earth Balance on it. The whole grain bun was awesome, the pretzel was perfect, the angel food cake was too dry and sweet (I know it’s just sugar and egg whites but still it was too sweet), the mandarin pudding was awesome and I wanted more! The soup was great… but was too spicy for me. I don’t know if it’s because I have no sense of smell or what but it was just too spicy and I couldn’t enjoy it, which was a real shame. But since I doubled up on this meal for this round I am looking forward to having it again.

I’ve been so grateful I stumbled across your posts about diet-to-go. I was searching for good vegetarian delivery meals that were affordable, but they had no pictures or descriptions on the diet-to-go website and so I was hesitant to try them out.
Because of your informative posts and detailed pictures, my fiance and I both just signed up for the vegetarian meal program and we feel like we have an inside scoop on when there’s a meal that would be better off using something on the substitution list.

When I first saw this meal, I didnt think it looked very satisfying. I was not liking the idea that this little meal of soup was supposed to hold me over the rest of the day. I was surprised to find that it was much more filling than it looks. I’m not in love with the flavor, but I know now I can eat it and be fine in a pinch.
